Coverage of the ocular prosthesis following nomenclature on medical prescription:

2503780 Postoperative provisional prosthesis: € 527.05
Applied 3 weeks to 1 month after the operation.
It is worn for 1 to 2 months to prepare for wearing the first definitive prosthesis.

2585460 First definitive prosthesis: € 975
Installed approximately 2 months after the provisional. It can be kept for 2 years, if there is no major modification of the cavity or reoperation.

Renewal :
Social security organizations provide for a replacement of the prosthesis every 6 years. But when a modification of the cavity appears which causes a decentering, a reduction in the palpebral opening or an intolerance of the prosthesis, social security covers the renewal of this prosthesis after medical justification.

Repolishing :

Whenever the patient seems to have discomfort with their prosthesis, deposits of mucus or scratches may have affected the surface of the prosthesis. Polishing will remedy this inconvenience.

Control visit:

The ophthalmologist ensures the tolerance of the prosthesis during a regular "medical follow-up", in collaboration with the prosthetist, for the greater good of the patient concerned. The patient must know that his ocular prosthesis applicator will find all the assistance necessary for the proper maintenance of his apparatus.
